Mammography

The medical physicist plays a significant role in establishing and maintaining good standards of practice for mammography facilities. LBT's medical physicists work with your personnel on various aspects such as equipment performance, imaging protocols, and radiation dose/risk assessments for staff and patients. Our physicists provide all mammography testing required by MQSA, the ACR and state regulations.

X-Ray and Fluoroscopy

The Medical Physicist uses sophisticated detection equipment to test and measure the radiation produced by x-ray machines. LBT’s medical physicists make sure that the radiation-producing equipment is operating within safe limits defined by regulatory agencies, and that the amount of radiation patients are exposed to is within an accepted range. Additionally, our physicists perform image quality assurance testing to ensure that all of their clients' x-ray units produce images of the highest quality.

CT/MRI

The equipment used to perform these diagnostic studies is very complex and must function properly to produce high-quality diagnostic images. LBT's medical physicists evaluate the equipment’s operation, the image quality, and oversees the routine quality control testing of these imaging systems to ensure the images meet widely accepted standards including the standards established by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).

Nuclear Medicine/PET

Nuclear medicine equipment includes conventional gamma cameras, single photon emission tomography (SPECT) scanners, and positron emission tomographic (PET) scanners. The medical nuclear physicist is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance (QA) program associated with this highly complex, computer-based equipment so as to ensure optimum equipment performance and image quality. We will perform acceptance testing of new imaging equipment, annual performance evaluations of existing equipment, and will review routine, daily QA testing carried out by the technologists. Our physicists also ensure the proper operation of non-imaging equipment such as dose calibrators and radiation detectors.

Radiation Therapy Physics Support

Clinical treatment methods and technology have changed dramatically over the past 20 years, but physics support has not adapted at the same pace. LBT's goals are to improve the quality of patient care by continuous improvement to clinical applications and to provide cost-effective quality physics support that is tailored to your specific needs. LBT will bring your clinic up to date and ready to move into the future.

Shielding Design

LBT offers shielding design services by a board certified health physicist that range from single x-ray rooms to multiple modality facilities. Design services include PET, CT, PET/CT, nuclear medicine, and R/F rooms. We work closely with the architects to ensure proper design in a timely manner.
